Great one Ted. Very like the Harlequin from Bates! Nice fly
thanks everyone but thank walt dette for his amzing amount of work.
In his personal files were all three of the trout fin series from the originator (percy flies?) anyway he just may have been inspired bythe married wings...it is so much easier to marry goose than get the baikel teal.
I did notice this as well Eunan. Thanks for the added info Ted.
Pete,
I'm also working my way through the LCR's and I'm not quite decided yet. I have yet to try Loon, which was recommended to me by a shopkeeper. It's quite expensive, though. I also ordered some Deer Creek Diamond Hard and will try that soon.
I love the concept, and find the LRC's really easy to work with. Soooo much better than epoxy.
And nice pattern, the slim one. Simple and almost surely efficient.

John,
Don't let them cheat you. It should be even less than 25 US$!
Order it from Coch-y-Bonddu at 10 UK£ or about 16 US$! Plus postage of course, but still...
I have no idea whether you can air paint with fabric dyes. Try it! And let us know.
Martin
I am interested in airbrushing additional colors and patterns to feathers for fly tying. A Google search finds nothing waterproof in acrylics or ink. I looked into this book. BUT, Where do you find it at US$24.95
Amazon is: $44.80-$900 Barnes & Noble: $65-202.50 eBay: $123.72-$225.30 and The Lyons Press does not list this book. Yikes!!! Can I airbrush on fabric dyes?
Muy bien hecho Marcelo...buena combinacion de colores, me gusta..
Well, you did it now. I have to pick my jaw up off the floor. Incredibly tie, in every way!!!
This fly is stunning and very well tied.....

John Charlton, sorry but have only just seen your posting, all Partridges's old & discontinued stock was bought by Ron Jefferies of www.troutandsalmonhooks.com. That'll probably be the only source left, as there are about 3 tons, literally of stock there.
John Hillman, probably your best bet for a valuation is to send a series of photo's to one of the vintage tackle specialists, in the U.K. it would be Neil Freeman of London, but over there I've no idea, maybe Neil could advise you?
Nothing beats the FMJ Rolled Muddler when targeting aggressive bows and bulls. I find when targeting these fish, adding some white bucktail and some crystal flash before the mallard wing makes the fly more enticing. However for salmon what the author said is especially true; you want the fly to be very sparse.
They are so pretty, no wonder the fish like them!
Monte, excellent innovation & inspiration. I have always admired your creations. Quite artistic! The majority of you tyers out there should study Monte's flies and learn from them. I found them to be very helpful in my own tying. I know that soundsa funny coming from an old Geezer like me, but you are never too old to learn new tricks. Thanks again Monte, you young whippersnapper!
You have a very special fly there Monte, love it!
I have an A. E. Partridge LTD 8 1/2 Ft. 2 piece Bamboo Fly Rod AFTMA 5/6. I think that it's around a 1996 vintage. Can someone out there tell me the current worth? The bamboo rod, green windings, line guides, and cocobolo reel seat are in excellent condition. The cork has a couple of small indentations that are hardly noticeable. I used the rod 3 times while trout fishing in Colorado.
… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
